Connie Lane - Chairperson

Connie Lane - Chairperson

CHAIRPERSON
Connie serves as Chairperson of the Carrigtwohill FRC and a member of the Governance sub-committee. She taught Maths and Geography in Carrignafoy Community College, Cobh until her retirement in 2016.

Connie is a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and the Baptism Preparation Team, and she also volunteers with Carrigtwohill Meals on Wheels.

Her hobbies include walking, reading and playing bridge. Connie has a husband, Mick, and four adult children.

Mary Carey

Mary Carey

Mary Carey has been very active in her own community for many years both as a volunteer and in a professional capacity as former coordinator of the local Family Resource Centre. She has a wide experience of working in the voluntary sector with a diverse range of voluntary organisations and community groups where she held various leadership and management positions.

Her work has also involved initiating social enterprises including the development of the Family Resource Centre and St Vincent De Paul Charity Shop.

Seamus Kiniry

Seamus Kiniry

Seamus is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and has been employed in the Irish Construction Industry for 40 years.

Seamus is a resident of Lisgoold, where he has been a lifelong supporter of, and participant in the activities of Lisgoold GAA. He is also a past member of the Board of Management of Bishop Ahern National School in Leamlara.

He is married to Marge with five adult children and nine grandchildren.

Joe Murphy

Joe Murphy

Joe is retired and was employed all his working life in the wholesale and retail Food Trade.

After completing a Degree in Marketing and English, he worked with a number of companies before joining Musgraves for over 30 years in the Sales, Marketing and Innovation departments.

He is the President of Midleton RFC having served for many years as Hon. Secretary of Munster Rugby. He is a former member of Carrigtwohill Community Council.

He is married with 4 children and 5 grandchildren

Frank Hannigan

Frank Hannigan

As well as being a Board member of Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre since 2023, Frank is an active member of Carrigtwohill Community Council where he provides advice and guidance to the C2H 2040 project.

Business Advisor

Founder of the Business Advisory Practice, StrategyCrowd.

Work with companies from early stage through to €360m complex organisation.

Work Internationally and domestically in most vertical sectors driving strategy, innovation, and International Sales.

Entrepreneur

Distinguished career in Creative Industries and Technology.

Aoife Coughlan

Aoife Coughlan

Originally from Cork City, Aoife moved to Carrigtwohill in 2005. Aoife and her family have been very happy here. She has 2 teenager children, both of whom attend CCC.

Having obtained her Degrees in both Montessori Education and Early Childhood Education, she began working in the childcare sector. Over the past 23 years, Aoife has continued to up skill. She currently manages a preschool and is the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) with regards to Child Protection as well as the Inclusion Coordinator following completion of the LINC programme.Aoife also holds FAR certification in First Aid.

Aoife has always been involved in her community, volunteering in the Brownies,  and as a swimming coach. She has been inspired by the ongoing work being done by the FRC and she looks forward to supporting and learning from her fellow Board members where ever possible.

Noelle Twomey

SECRETARY
Noelle Twomey has been a dedicated resident of Carrigtwohill since 2006. Originally from Cork City, she brings a diverse educational background and extensive professional experience to her role as a board member. Noelle holds a Master of Science in Data Business, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and another Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering.

In her current role as the Global Director of Change Management at Dell Technologies, Noelle is responsible for overseeing readiness and adoption for technology transformation initiatives. Her leadership and expertise in managing change have been pivotal in driving successful technology implementations across the organization.

Noelle is married to Dave, who is a native of East Cork. Together, they are active members of their community, contributing to various local initiatives and fostering a spirit of collaboration and growth.

Noelle’s commitment to excellence, combined with her passion for technology and community engagement, makes her an invaluable asset to any team she is part of.

Aida Gebremeskel

Aida Gebremeskel

Aida Gebremeskel, originally from Ethiopia, has lived in Carrigtwohill with her family for over 16 years, during which time they were warmly supported by the local Family Resource Centre, a connection that continues to inspire her commitment to community inclusion.

She co-leads the Social Inclusion & Integration strand of the Carrigtwohill Project (C2H2040) and coordinates East Cork Africa Day. Aida is also a Researcher with IDPAD Ireland and an intercultural facilitator with Yellow Flag Ireland.

Aida holds a degree in International Development and Food Policy and a Master’s in International Public Policy and Diplomacy. She recently completed a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning course. She works with a corporate company out in little island and is passionate about strengthening community voices and fostering a welcoming, inclusive Carrigtwohill.

She’s married to Andy and has 1 adult son.

Sheila Dillon

Sheila Dillon

Sheila co-leads the Social Inclusion & Integration strand of the Carrigtwohill Project (C2H2040) She is a member of Carrigtwohill Conradh na Gaeilge that delivers Irish language courses including for absolute beginners.

She is a volunteer with Cork Simon community and a volunteer tutor with Cobh Fáilte Isteach Conversation classes with migrants.

Sheila started her career as a primary teacher. She has a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Science and a National Diploma in Development Studies. She has worked with Trocaire’s education programme across Munster, with Happy Talk, a language development programme supporting children aged 0-6 in Cork City and with Pobal as AIM Team Lead, before retiring in 2023.

Sheila is married to Tony with three adult children.

Tom Carey

IN MEMORIAM

Tom Carey was a retired Community Worker with considerable experience working in the community and voluntary sector in relation to child care, the provision and development of local democratic participatory structures and social enterprises.

Tom always represented communities on working groups and partnership structures which require working with both statutory bodies, other voluntary and semi-state organisations.

He is remembered fondly.

Margot Hartnett

IN MEMORIAM
Margot was the Chairperson of the Family Resource Centre CLG since its establishment in January 2018, following a successful application for inclusion in the Tusla funded FRC’s. Prior to receiving State funding this resource centre was managed and run by the members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Margot was a retired teacher and deputy principal of St. Aloysius College, where she worked with the sisters of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God, a lay staff and many hundreds of students.

Margot was involved in community groups in the Parish of Carrigtwohill: Board of Management Scoil Mhuire Naofa, SVP Conference of St Bridget & St Anne & Caring For Carrigtwohill.

She was a very positive person and believed that, to make a difference in someone’s life, you don’t have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful, or perfect, you just have to care.

Margot will be missed by all at Carrigtwohill Family Resource Center and remembered fondly.

Mission Statement

The mission of the organisation is to work for social justice by working in solidarity with those who are marginalised to promote self-sufficiency and to break the cycle of poverty. We aim to do this through early intervention and preventative work which is at the core of all our services.

This ethos is based on the principle of providing an accessible community-based service for all who are experiencing difficulties and challenges in their lives with particular emphasis on children and families.
